Matthias Tschöp

Matthias Tschöp has discovered key pathways of today’s metabolic control model and introduced a series of novel therapeutic candidates, several of which are currently in clinical trials.  He is the first physician to be awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship and currently serves as the Research Director of the Helmholtz Diabetes Center and Helmholtz Pioneer Campus, and as Chair of Metabolic Diseases at Technical University of Munich, Germany. He has been awarded several prizes, including the Erwin Schrödinger Prize and the Endocrine Society Outstanding Innovation Award. Tschöp holds an Adjunct Professorship at Yale University and is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Academia Europaea. He is co-founding Editor-in-Chief of the open-access, peer-reviewed journal Molecular Metabolism
