Peter Mombaerts, Max Plank Research Unit for Neurogenetics, Germany
Peter Mombaerts obtained his M.D. from the University of Leuven, Belgium in 1987 and his Ph.D. in Biology from MIT, Cambridge, MA in 1992, working with Dr. Susumu Tonegawa. After a postdoc with Dr. Richard Axel at Columbia University, New York (1993-1995), he was on the faculty of The Rockefeller University, New York (1995-2007). He was a director at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics (2008-2013) and is since 2013 the director of the Max Planck Research Unit for Neurogenetics in Frankfurt, Germany. He is interested in understanding the sequence of pathobiological events that lead to olfactory dysfunction in COVID-19.
